With such a large country, there are hundreds of amazing spots to check out in every state, so we’ve rounded up our top five favourite holiday destinations here that are a must-visit for your next getaway. Read on below to find out…
1. Byron Bay, NSW
One of our absolute favourites, Byron Bay is the gem of coastal New South Wales. We love the laid-back atmosphere in Byron, but there are so many fun destinations to visit around the area other than the gorgeous beaches! The beautiful hinterland villages of Bangalow, Newrybar, Mullumbimby, and Federal all have their own unique quirks which make them a must to visit. Byron Bay is busy year-round and there are some great festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Bluesfest and Falls Festival. Of course, the beaches are the star attraction to Byron Bay with their creamy white sand, glassy turquoise barrels, and palm trees. We recommend staying at Barefoot Escapes, of course!
2. Noosa, QLD
Noosa Heads is a great stylish and sophisticated holiday getaway destination on the Sunshine Coast in southeast Queensland. The subtropical climate and gorgeous beaches are some of the best reasons to make this one of the top holiday destinations. The beaches are excellent, but the shopping and boating are equally as good. If you love beachfront accommodation, this one is for you.
3. Rottnest Island, WA
Just 19 km off the coast of Perth City, lies the sunny holiday island of Rottnest. We love this area for its relaxed, casual ambiance with incredible marine life, beaches, and bays! Bikes are a fun way to get around the island since its only 11km long. Water activities are a huge part of daily life on the island, so if you’re in for a holiday filled with fishing, diving, snorkeling, boating, sailing, swimming and more, then this is the place to be.
4. Hobart, TAS
Hobart has been a long-standing favourite holiday destination of ours purely for its blend of heritage, scenery, and culture, with numerous activities and attractions nearby. There are many award-winning restaurants, modern architecture, theatres, craft shops, and galleries to name a few. We love to explore the Salamanca Market, one of Australia’s best outdoor markets, as well as the Taste of Tasmania, Australia’s biggest and longest-running food and wine festival in Hobart. We recommend staying at Pump House Point, a Lake St. Clair accommodation in the heart of the wilderness.
5. Portsea, VIC
The small village of Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula will take your breath away. It’s a great destination to walk or cycle the Mornington Peninsula National Park. There are great long stretches of sand and surf with some spectacular views along the coast from the walking trails. It's only one hour and forty-minute drive south of Melbourne makes this a must for your next holiday! Make sure to stay at the picturesque Portsea Hotel.
